There are several top places to visit in Mexico. Some of them are Cancun, San Miguel de Allende, Oaxaca, and Merida. If you’re planning a trip to Mexico, make sure you plan to stay in one of these cities. These places are bursting with history and culture.

San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel de Allende is a beautiful place to visit in the city’s historic center. The historic downtown area is home to a posh hotel, the Rosewood San Miguel. Its upscale rooms and suites feature wood-beamed ceilings and handcrafted furnishings. The hotel also offers a spa and rooftop tapas restaurant.

A visit to the city’s historical museum will give you an appreciation of the city’s role in Mexican history. The museum is full of informative information, and visitors will walk away with a good understanding of the city’s history. You can also dine at one of the many restaurants and rooftop bars in San Miguel de Allende. These include the Quince restaurant for fine dining and Luna Rooftop for Spanish-style Tapas.

The climate in San Miguel de Allende is warm all year. However, there is a rainy season during July and August. You can get a cheaper flight during this time of year. You can fly into the city from the Del Bajio Leon or Queretaro International Airport in Queretaro. It takes about three hours from either city. You can also take a taxi or Didi to reach the city.

If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway in Mexico, Merida is a great choice. The city’s downtown is home to a large park and a bustling night market. The market sells souvenirs, handcrafted items, and clothing. In addition, there are historical lobbies and free WiFi, making it an ideal place for a night out.

The city’s museums offer a window into its history and highlight its artistic epicenter. For example, the Gran Museo del Mundo Maya is a must-see, as it exhibits an extensive collection of Mayan artifacts and puts Yucatan history in perspective. Other museums worth visiting include the Museum of Anthropology and History, located in a spectacular historic mansion on Paseo Montejo. The Popular Art Museum also exhibits typical Mexican artwork.

Travel and Leisure magazine has listed Merida as one of the top places to visit in Mexico. The magazine’s reader-voted awards put Merida on par with Tokyo, the city’s tourist capital.

In the summer of 2016, Cancun was one of the top places to travel to in Mexico for American tourists. With restrictions lifted and the international travel industry rebounding strongly, millions of Americans flocked to the area for world-class beaches and all-inclusive resorts. This success has created an incredible demand for hotel rooms in Cancun, which is expected to remain high throughout the fall and winter.

The city is full of great restaurants for those looking for cultural activities in Cancun. If you are looking for authentic Mexican fare, try Senor Frogs, a funky contemporary restaurant. This restaurant hosts foam and beach parties and has an open bar. It is also home to some of the best Mexican food in the city.

Aside from world-class restaurants and resorts, Cancun is also home to a fascinating Mayan history. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn about this ancient civilization while you enjoy your vacation. There are numerous places to visit in Cancun, and no matter what you want to do, you’ll have a great time.

Isla Holbox

Isla Holbox is the perfect destination if you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing island vacation. Located about two hours south of Cancun, the island is easily accessible by ferry from Chiquila. You can also travel there via ADO bus or private plane.

You’ll find pristine white sand and a shallow lagoon on the island. You can stroll for miles along the beach and enjoy the scenery. While staying on the island, you can dine at one of the numerous restaurants. Many have upscale decor and offer gourmet dishes. Some of them even accept credit cards. However, remember that WiFi may need to be fixed, so you’ll need to carry cash.

You can also rent a bike to explore the island. There’s a stunning area 1 mile west of the town called Punta Cocos. You can ride bikes here for an afternoon or spend a day at the beach.

Puerto Vallarta

If you love nature, you will love the Puerto Vallarta Botanical Garden. It has the most extensive collection of orchids in Mexico. You can also enjoy swimming in the river or eating at a restaurant by the water. If you don’t have a car, you should stay in one of the surrounding areas, such as the Zona Romantica or the Centro. This will save you money on cab fares.

While in town, take advantage of the Malecon, the city’s seafront promenade. It stretches a mile from the north end of downtown, starting at the Hotel Rosita and ending at the city’s main square. Here, you can enjoy sea views, intriguing statues, and restaurants.

If you’re planning an extended stay in Puerto Vallarta, consider staying in a guesthouse or a small hotel. In addition to being a prime spot for a beach vacation, it’s also a great place to do some shopping. There are many souvenir shops, and you can buy local food at local markets. If you like to cook your meals, you can rent an apartment on Airbnb. While grocery stores are scarce, there are plenty of local restaurants and markets. If you’re into gourmet food, you can try eating at one of them.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo

Ixtapa is a popular Pacific Coast beach resort in Guerrero. It has high-rise hotels, a marina, and a golf course beside the beach. The nearby Los Morros de Pots dive site is a popular place to go diving. You can also swim with dolphins at the Delfiniti dolphinarium. Zihuatanejo is a more laid-back resort city.

Ixtapa has a fantastic coastline with beautiful bays and crystal-clear water. It also has two excellent golf courses and a water park. You can also take a boat tour to Isla Ixtapa. The beaches in Zihuatanejo are also quite lovely.

If you’re interested in history, you can visit the ruins of the ancient Mayan civilization. Xihuacan is about a thirty-minute drive away from Ixtapa. This site is home to several old structures dating back 3,000 years. It also has a museum with several excavated items.

Tangolunda Bay

This bay is one of the most popular places to visit in Huatulco. The area is home to several luxury resorts. While most beaches are privately owned, there are also public access areas. Most larger hotels and resorts are located in or near the bay.

The area has two main swimming beaches: Playa Tangolunda and La Entrega. Playa Tangolunda is a green flag beach and one of Huatulco’s more popular swimming spots. The other, the more popular beach is La Entrega, lined with restaurants and palapa-style homes. The latter can get quite crowded, especially during the weekends. The best time to swim here is early morning when the water is still calm.

While in Huatulco, consider staying in one of the all-inclusive luxury resorts along Tangolunda Bay. At these luxurious resorts, you can enjoy romantic ocean views, quaint shops, and pricey seafood. This area also offers plenty of activities for families, such as zipline rides and snorkeling. However, there’s very little shade here, and you’ll need to bring a beach chair if you plan to spend the day in the sun.
